According to Carlo Ancelotti, it is improbable that Jude Bellingham will participate in England’s European Championship matches against Malta at Wembley and North Macedonia away.
The midfielder was unable to join the Madrid team for their 5-1 win against Valencia on Saturday due to a shoulder injury. The Madrid manager stated that he would still go with the team to be evaluated by England’s doctors, but advised against him playing.
Bellingham suffered the injury when he fell trying to control a low ball with his chest in the first half against Rayo Vallecano last Sunday. Despite playing the full 90 minutes with strapping applied to his shoulder, the midfielder was left out of Madrid’s Champions League meeting with Braga in midweek.
He was added to the team lineup for Saturday’s game against Valencia, and Ancelotti expressed confidence in his ability to play unless any unexpected issues arise. However, he was ultimately removed from the lineup before the game.
Ancelotti stated that the player will undergo evaluation and he anticipates a speedy return to Spain. If the player was unable to play today, he will not be able to participate in England’s game. He needs to focus on strengthening his shoulder through specific exercises in the upcoming weeks. It is expected that after the international break, he will be fit to play once again.
England has already secured a spot in Euro 2024, but they are aiming to secure a spot as one of the top six seeds for the finals in Germany.
