The White House under Joe Biden has shown empathy and solidarity towards the Princess of Wales following her disclosure that she is undergoing treatment for cancer.
During a Friday press conference, Biden’s spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre, expressed well wishes for Catherine to fully recover.
She shared that we all received the devastating update. Our hearts go out to the Duchess of Cambridge and those close to her during this challenging period. We hope she has a speedy recovery.
Jean-Pierre emphasized the significance of respecting the privacy of the royal family, following widespread speculation, particularly on the internet, regarding the reasons behind Catherine’s recent low-key behavior.
The princess shared news of her cancer illness and the treatment of chemotherapy in a video message that was filmed by the BBC in the gardens of Windsor Castle.
She stated that the cancer was found during a significant abdominal surgery she underwent in January.
There has been increased talk and rumors surrounding Catherine in the past few months. Following her post on Mother’s Day in the UK featuring a picture of her with her three children – George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five – several prominent news sources brought up concerns that the photo had been edited.
Catherine expressed regret for any “misunderstanding” and stated that she had personally edited the image using digital technology.
In the recorded statement, Catherine stated that she and Prince William needed to take some time to discuss her health with their children.
“I kindly ask for your understanding that, as a family, we require time, space, and privacy while I undergo my treatment,” she expressed in the video. “My work has always brought me immense happiness and I am eager to return once I am able, but currently my main focus is on achieving a complete recovery.”
The princess informed her children that she and William have assured her that she will “be fine”.
“I am feeling good and becoming more resilient each day by concentrating on the things that will aid in my recovery – in my thoughts, physical health, and emotional well-being,” she stated.
Currently, I am also keeping in mind those who have been impacted by cancer. To all those battling this illness, no matter what type, please do not lose your faith or hope. You have a support system.
