Jannik Sinner clinched his second consecutive tournament win by defeating Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-4 in the final of the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam.
Sinner made his return to the court this week after winning the Australian Open. He only lost one set during the entire competition and struck 23 impressive shots against his Australian opponent. Despite initially losing a break lead in both sets, he managed to regain control and ultimately win the match.
Sinner’s 12th tour-level victory has propelled him to the No. 3 spot in the ATP rankings, a historic achievement as he becomes the first Italian man to reach this ranking. This win also marks his 15th consecutive match win.
In a different location, the 23-year-old underdog Facundo Díaz Acosta ended an impressive streak at his home country’s Argentina Open by defeating third-ranked Nicolas Jarry 6-3, 6-4 to claim the championship and his inaugural ATP Tour win.
Díaz Acosta saved all six break points he faced, clinching the incredible win with his sixth championship point. Jarry had knocked out Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final.
