Marvel has revealed the lineup for the highly-anticipated Fantastic Four reboot: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn.
The movie, centered around a group of four superheroes possessing diverse abilities, is scheduled to be released on July 25th, 2025.
Pascal, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for his starring role in HBO’s The Last of Us, has been cast as Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic. Kirby, who most recently starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Napoleon, will play Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman and Richards’ girlfriend. Moss-Bachrach, who won an Emmy for best supporting actor in a comedy series for The Bear in September, will portray Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing. Joseph Quinn, who gained recognition for his role as Eddie in Stranger Things, will take on the role of Johnny Storm, also known as The Human Torch.
Marvel announced the news through a Valentine’s Day card on Instagram.
In 2005 and 2007, two films were released featuring characters played by Chris Evans and Jessica Alba. Together, these films earned a total of $630 million worldwide. A 2015 version starring Michael B Jordan and Miles Teller was not successful with critics or at the box office.
There is limited information available about the movie, but it is centered around astronauts who travel to space and obtain unique abilities upon their return.
There have been ongoing discussions about the actors for several months. Kirby expressed in November that she would be delighted to be a part of the movie.
The director of the movie will be Matt Shakman, who is primarily recognized for his work on television, such as directing episodes of WandaVision, Succession, and The Great.
Pascal will also be in charge of the upcoming second installment of The Last of Us. He recently starred in the film Freaky Tales, which debuted at Sundance. Kirby, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Pieces of a Woman, has projects lined up including the upcoming Mission: Impossible movie and the survival thriller Eden directed by Ron Howard, featuring Ana de Armas and Sydney Sweeney.
Moss-Bachrach is set to star in the upcoming third season of The Bear, premiering this summer. He will also appear alongside Sarah Paulson in the Hulu horror movie Dust. This year, Quinn is also featured in both Gladiator 2 and A Quiet Place: Day One.
The news follows the debut of The Marvels in late 2023, which garnered the lowest profits for Marvel within its film universe.
The new movie from Marvel and Sony, Madame Web, is now available. It currently has a 17% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is expected to make $25 million in its first six days of release.
