Piers Morgan has revealed that he will be stepping down from his daily evening TalkTV program, which he started less than two years ago, in order to devote more time to his YouTube channel.
Since 2022, the Piers Morgan Uncensored channel has gained 2.3 million subscribers.
He referred to the channel as having a “startup mindset” and stated that the alteration would permit extended interviews with prominent guests, aided by additional video snippets. A few of the interviews will be featured on TalkTV.
According to Tom Harrington, who leads the television division at media research company Enders Analysis, there is a significant difference between the numbers he produces online and those he receives on TalkTV.
The show’s production values and promotional expenses do not match with his profile, making it seem out of place.
The majority of people see his interviews through short two-minute clips, which are more effective than having him buried in the TV guide under numerous channels that make it hard to find.
Morgan, aged 58, stated that there is a significant worldwide desire for the content they produce. However, the requirement to release a daily show on a set schedule with the added responsibilities of editing and adhering to time constraints has become an unnecessary restriction.
He stated: “Viewers are tuning into YouTube instead of traditional TV, and I have no issue with that.”
Audiences cannot be challenged or dictated on how they should consume content.
I would be delighted to conduct a three or four-hour interview with Elon Musk tomorrow and the audience would thoroughly enjoy it. However, I do not enjoy being confined to a studio every night at 8pm, especially when there may not be any newsworthy events to cover. It begs the question, why bother?
