Lulu has accomplished a feat that very few musicians have achieved: celebrating 60 years of her career as a performer. To commemorate this achievement, she will be embarking on a tour and eagerly answering any questions from her fans. Originally named Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie, Lulu quickly rose in the ranks of the music industry, turning professional at the age of 12, signing a record deal at 14, and scoring a Top 10 hit at just 15 years old with her energetic rendition of the Isley Brothers’ song “Shout.” In her late teens, she landed her first US No. 1 hit with the theme song for the 1967 film “To Sir, With Love,” in which she also had a role. She also made history as the first British female singer to perform in the communist bloc, touring Poland alongside the Hollies.

She expanded her diverse skills to include being a television presenter, with notable guests like Jimi Hendrix appearing on her show. In 1969, she also achieved success by winning the Eurovision song contest with her song Boom Bang-a-Bang. However, she later confessed to John Peel that she did not particularly like the song. During the same year, she tied the knot with Maurice Gibb from the band Bee Gees, but they divorced in 1973. She then had a short-lived romance with David Bowie and released a cover of his song The Man Who Sold the World, which reached No 3 on the UK charts.

She has also created a song for the James Bond franchise, recorded at the iconic Muscle Shoals studio, made an appearance in a Monty Python movie, collaborated with Bobby Womack, composed for Tina Turner, achieved a UK No 1 hit with Take That, and overall has been a powerful presence in British popular culture.

There is much to inquire about as she begins her Champagne for Lulu tour, commemorating her 75th birthday and 60 years in the entertainment industry. The tour will commence in Glasgow on April 9th and continue to Manchester, Southampton, Birmingham, and London.

Please submit your questions in the comments section below before 11am GMT on Thursday, February 1st. We will post her responses on February 9th.
