Nominations for the London Film Critics Awards have been dominated by the film All of Us Strangers.

The British drama All of Us Strangers has solidified its status as a major contender for awards season, receiving nine nominations at the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, including a nomination for Film of the Year.

All of Us Strangers, written and directed by Andrew Haigh, received nominations for three of its lead actors: Andrew Scott for actor of the year, and Claire Foy and Paul Mescal in the supporting categories. The movie follows the love story between Scott and Mescal’s characters, with Foy and Jamie Bell playing Scott’s parents who seem to be stuck in the past. The film has yet to be released in the UK, but it debuted at the renowned Telluride film festival in September, where Guardian’s top film critic Peter Bradshaw gave it a glowing five-star review, describing it as a “enigmatic, stunning, and emotional” film.

The film Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, has received seven nominations, placing it in second position. These nominations include film of the year, director of the year, and screenwriter of the year for Nolan, as well as actor of the year for Cillian Murphy who stars in the film. Other films with strong showings are Celine Song’s Past Lives, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, and Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest, all with six nominations each.

The recipients will be revealed during a ceremony in London on February 4th.
