According to reports, investigators from Scotland Yard have spoken to Russell Brand for a second time regarding accusations of sexual misconduct.
It is believed that Brand was interviewed at a police station in south London in November for three reported sexual offenses from the past. He has since been interviewed again for six additional reported sexual offenses from the past.
The Metropolitan police did not disclose the name of the individual, but when asked, a representative stated that a man in his 40s visited a police station in south London on Thursday 14 December for a second time. He was questioned by detectives under caution regarding six additional sexual offenses from the past.
The Metropolitan Police have verified that the individual in question visited a police station on Thursday, November 16 for an interview. It is believed that he has been interrogated about nine suspected offenses and the police investigation is ongoing.
The individual identified as Brand, aged 48, has rejected serious accusations of criminal activity and aggressive assaults, which he strongly denies.
In September, Channel 4’s Dispatches and the Sunday Times conducted a joint investigation into Brand’s reported actions. According to four women, he allegedly sexually assaulted them during his successful years between 2006 and 2013 when he was a presenter for BBC and Channel 4, as well as an actor in Hollywood. Brand has stated that all of his relationships were consensual.
In the previous month, the BBC announced that they received five complaints regarding Brand’s conduct during his time as a host on BBC radio from 2006 to 2008.
In September, the Metropolitan Police announced that following the investigation by Dispatches and Sunday Times, they have received multiple reports of sexual offenses in London. They have also received reports of sexual offenses occurring in other parts of the country and will be conducting investigations. All of the offenses reported are from the past.
Channel 4 is currently conducting an internal investigation, while Banijay UK has also initiated their own investigation. Banijay acquired Endemol, the production company responsible for shows in which Brand appeared in the mid-2000s, in 2020.
The company was asked for a statement.
