A court in Romania has denied Andrew Tate’s urgent plea to see his mother who is hospitalized in the United Kingdom.
The influencer on social media stated that he had requested to depart the country following his mother’s heart attack.
According to a statement from Tate’s representative, the decision has left them feeling discouraged.
The 37-year-old kickboxer and his 35-year-old brother, who hold citizenship in both the UK and US, were instructed to stay in Romania after being accused of rape, human trafficking, and participating in a criminal organization.
They have rejected all accusations of mistreatment and illegal trade, and a court case is scheduled to occur.
Following the decision, Tate, who is a popular figure on the platform with 8.5 million followers, posted on X saying: “Rejected. The Romanian government has determined that she will spend Christmas alone, assuming she is still alive.”
He later stated in another post: “Romania does not follow the principle of innocent until proven guilty.”
Following their time in police custody, the brothers were placed on house arrest as they awaited their trial. However, a court in Bucharest later lifted some of these restrictions, permitting them to travel throughout Romania.
Romanian prosecutors announced in June that the brothers, along with two Romanian citizens, established an organized criminal group in early 2021 with the intention of engaging in human trafficking activities in Romania, the UK, the US, and other nations.
The statement reported that supposed victims were transported to structures in Ilfov county, Romania, where they were threatened, closely monitored, and coerced into debt.
The accused are said to have compelled the individuals to engage in pornographic activities, which were subsequently posted on various social media platforms.
According to Andrew Tate, there is a lack of evidence against him from Romanian prosecutors and he believes it is part of a political plot to silence him.
He was previously prohibited from using several popular social media websites for sharing misogynistic opinions and promoting hate speech.
