“The song ‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers has become as ubiquitous as ‘Happy Birthday’ – it practically plays itself.”

Are you tired of Mr Brightside? TopTramp

Ronnie Vannucci, the drummer, expresses that the song naturally comes to life when performed. There is a special connection between the band and the audience during live shows that allows the music to flow effortlessly. It’s similar to singing “Happy Birthday” without consciously thinking about it – it just happens.

Brandon Flowers, lead singer: I never tire of performing. I am energized by the enthusiasm of someone hearing our music for the first time. I still feel a rush. My worry is that it may eventually backfire, but our popularity just continues to grow.

The RV is currently anticipating the arrival of Weird Al [Yankovic].

BF: Wow.

Revised: Once it’s finished, what have I done?

The cadence of your songs doesn’t usually follow an expected pattern. It’s as though you write stories set to music instead of melodies with lyrics. How do you make your songwriting so unique? somekindofmysterious
BF: Sometimes there is a blueprint for rock’n’roll and pop. If you get trapped inside it can be dangerous. Our last record, Pressure Machine, was written largely lyrics-first. We had never done that before. It gave us so much freedom in the studio because, if you weren’t loving the direction a song was going, you could put a whole different suit on it.

Pressure Machine is an incredible album of pathos and power. In the hypnotic, romantically twisted, cop-kills-a-violent-husband Desperate Things, what does the line “she laughed it off like lemonade” mean? McScootikins

I find it self-explanatory. I will let the person interpret it in their own way.

Rick Rubin, an American record producer, once said that it is preferable to leave an interpretation rather than an explanation.

What professions would you have pursued if you didn’t become famous musicians? – Ernest Hemingway
I am not proficient in any other area. I would have been content working as a valet attendant on the Las Vegas Strip. Many of my relatives have worked in similar jobs. I enjoy the fast-paced environment and the satisfaction of earning tips and seeing my earnings increase in my pocket. That was my ultimate goal.

I pursued a dual degree in music performance and education during my time in college. If not for that, I may have ended up in jail.

Have your perceptions of Las Vegas evolved over time? Would you consider doing a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere? Journalomar and GrazAlarm

BF: You can take the boys out of Vegas, but it will always be a part of us. When we were kids, it was a small town. For a while it was the fastest-growing city in America. I was lucky enough to see U2 at the Sphere. Absolutely we would be open to doing something like that. It would be a big undertaking, but it would be a blast.

, are you two still not verified?

Is your pink jacket, along with Geri’s dress, Noel’s guitar, and Kylie’s gold hot pants, displayed in a museum? TurangaLeela2 and MrSOBaldrick, have the two of you still not been verified?

BF: Someone should request it. It’s currently stored in my closet, patiently waiting to be requested.

Ronnie, as the lead singer, has a similar role to that of a boss. Was it challenging for the band in the beginning, having Brandon as the youngest member with a five-year age gap? I can imagine there was a significant learning curve.

Reworded: The individual in question possesses natural talent and despite being introverted, excels when given a platform to perform. Despite remaining shy after 22 years, he has found his place and has continued to improve. It’s impressive to witness his ongoing growth, while I personally feel stagnant and uninteresting.

Brandon: You are one of the few remaining great entertainers in the showbiz industry. Do you believe that in the past, you would have found enjoyment in being a multi-talented performer, including singing, acting in films, and hosting television shows? Stay positive.

Johnny Cash, Marc Bolan, and Dean Martin’s approach was quite impressive. I believe Ronnie and I could collaborate in a similar manner.

Are you still being perceived as a British band, MrSOBaldrick?

Reworded: “Hey there, we are British! What are you talking about?”

We occasionally encounter individuals who are unaware that we are from the United States. We did not anticipate this confusion at all. Our intention with our second album was to ensure that everyone knew we were American, which is why we named it Sam’s Town.

Reworded: You all still impress us, even as new talent emerges from Britain. I’m not sure if it’s the nursery rhymes you teach your children or simply your love for music, but your country has a close-knit community that exudes vibrancy. The colors seem more vibrant and the contrast is heightened. There is a great zest for life and celebration, accompanied by a never-ending supply of songs.

What are our expectations when we visit the UK? Definitely curry! Watching the Hairy Bikers on TV is always a pleasure. I could watch them cook and chat endlessly. Even in the US, I would tune in to the Great British Baking Show [Bake Off] with my family. There’s just something about the lighting in the tent that makes me nostalgic for England. Unfortunately, this season is not living up to my expectations, but that’s just my opinion. It’s a bit disappointing.

If you had the opportunity to travel back in time 20 years to the beginning, what guidance would you offer your younger selves? Kimmoss1982

BF: Initially, we were very optimistic, like most bands are. However, after facing multiple rejections from top music labels like Sony, Island, and Warner Brothers in the US, we were on the verge of giving up. Eventually, a smaller label called Lizard King in England offered us an indie deal. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to go to England, as it seemed like our music career was coming to an end. However, our luck changed when a positive review from NME for our show at Dublin Castle in Camden, London, caught the attention of others and altered our path. It’s unbelievable to think that we are now here, conversing with you and looking at a list of 20 songs from our new compilation album, Rebel Diamond. We are extremely proud of these tracks.

Could you give some insight into the potential direction of your future music, as recording for your band’s eighth album was stopped due to concerns that it sounded too similar to previous material? VerulamiumParkRanger
BF: The album that we, for lack of a better term, scrapped, was not because it was like anything recent. We just felt we were going down a road that wasn’t as appealing to us as it was when we started. So we decided to stop. We were very honest about it. I don’t think people tend to be so honest when they make these kind of decisions.

During our time in Boston before a performance, Brandon and I had a conversation about it, and he responded with “I dunno.” I was relieved that he said that.

BF: What’s funny is there’s nothing wrong with the songs. The songs are great. I guess it’s a style, a bit of a substance issue, the complexion of the songs.
