Singer Rod Stewart plans to sell his Los Angeles mansion and relocate to the United Kingdom for an Atlantic crossing.

Singer Rod Stewart is selling his Los Angeles home for $80 million, as he plans to reside more frequently at his residence in the UK.

Real estate agent Tomer Fridman explained to the New York Times, who was the first to report the listing, that it’s simply a matter of time. The property has been home to the family for 30 years and has seen the children grow up. The owner now has grandchildren and spends a lot of time touring and living in Europe.

In 1991, Stewart, who is now 78 years old, purchased a lot in the Beverly Park neighborhood for $12 million. He then hired architect Richard Landry to design a 28,000 square foot, nine-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion painted in yellow. The property also includes a 4,500 square foot guesthouse, which Fridman describes as being equivalent to a main house in most other places, but considered a guesthouse in Beverly Park. In June, Stewart initially listed the property for sale with an asking price $10 million lower.

The house includes a soccer field and, up until now, contained Stewart’s beloved elaborate model train set called Grand Street and Three Rivers City, inspired by American railroads. In 2021, he shared, “It took me 23 years to construct. It measures 60 feet in length and 25 feet in width, bigger than the average person’s home. It took seven months to transport [to the UK].”

Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, moved into a 10-bedroom mansion on the border of Hertfordshire and Essex in 2016. This Grade II-listed property is located near the village of Sawbridgeworth and will now serve as their primary residence. Among its many luxurious features is a second train set that replicates the east coast mainline of the United Kingdom.

Lancaster, who used to work as a model, has now taken on the role of a volunteer police officer. She was recently on duty in London for the coronation of King Charles III.

In 2022, Stewart recorded a video of himself repairing potholes on the road near his home in the UK. He explained, “I saw an ambulance with a flat tire the other day. Even my Ferrari can’t pass through here. So my friends and I decided to take matters into our own hands.” However, he received a warning from an official from Essex county council, who reminded him that citizens should report potholes to the council and they will handle any hazardous situations.

Stewart and Jools Holland are preparing to launch their joint album, Swing Fever. The album will feature big band songs like Ain’t Misbehavin’, Frankie and Johnny, and Pennies from Heaven. It is set to be released on February 23rd, and the duo gave a surprise performance to promote it at St Pancras International station.

Stewart will conclude his 13-year Las Vegas residency at the Caesars Palace hotel and casino with The Hits concerts in August 2024. Prior to that, he will also embark on tours in North America, Japan, and Europe.
