-energy banger “Review of Love Minus Zero: L’Ecstasy – Tiga and Hudson Mohawke team up for an electrifying banger.”

The unexpected pairing of electronic music producers Hudson Mohawke and Tiga from Glasgow and Montreal, respectively, have been releasing collaborative tracks at a slow pace since the release of their first track, “Love Minus Zero,” in 2020. Despite their contrasting styles – HudMo known for his maximalist approach and Tiga for his sleek aesthetic – the two artists have found a harmonious connection. Their joint project, titled L’Ecstasy, consists of 16 tracks and offers a more subtle version of the popular Skrillex/Fred Again/Four Tet sound taking over the club scene. The album features a mix of dreamy and euphoric moments, along with more intense, rave-inspired tracks.

The odd track out is the best: In Order 2, a melancholic wallow in goth chords whose heartbreak theme is unexpectedly disrupted by a glorious saxophone line (Wolfgang Tillmans loved it so much he provided the LP’s powdery artwork). BuyBuySell is another crisp workout defying easy classification. But there is precisely nothing wrong with the rubbery techno of Duro, or superb guest features by Channel Tres on Feel the Rush, or Jesse Boykins III on Silence of Love, either.
