Harlyn Marie, also known as Cat Power, was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1972 and was raised in the southern United States. She began making music in the late 1980s and recorded two consecutive albums in 1994. Marshall is recognized for her delicate and contemplative indie rock style, which incorporates elements of blues and soul. She has produced 11 studio albums, including the highly praised The Greatest (2006). She currently resides in Miami with her son Boaz, who is eight years old. Her live album, Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Albert Hall Concert, will be released on November 10th.

Dave Chappelle at Madison Square Garden
Dave Chappelle marked his 50th birthday while performing at Madison Square Garden in August. In honor of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary this year, he was joined on stage by special guests like the Roots, Nas, and Ludacris, as well as fellow comedians Jon Stewart, Luenell, and Chris Rock. It was a phenomenal experience. Despite the size of the venue, Chappelle’s set was a huge success and had the intimate feel of being in his own living room.

“Lovers Grave” by Tracey Emin on display at White Cube New York.
Tracey Emin’s presence in the American art scene has not been widely recognized, but she is set to have a major exhibition in New York which I plan on attending. We connected through Instagram during the pandemic and I wanted to express my appreciation for her impactful influence on women. Recently, I visited her studio in Margate and had a sneak peek of the show, which was visually stunning as her works were displayed together on the wall.
3. Organisation
Regenerative Organic Alliance
This program, created about five years ago by Dr. Bronner’s and Patagonia in collaboration with the Rodale Institute, strives to restore soil health, protect animal welfare, and enhance the livelihoods of farmers. It has a global presence and welcomes anyone to join the coalition. Additionally, they offer a certification for farmers that exceeds the standard organic label. This is a remarkable initiative that deserves more recognition. Personally, I am deeply passionate about environmental concerns – it would be difficult not to be.

On November 11th, there will be a Veterans Day event held at the San Carlos Reservation.
In November, the San Carlos Reservation in Arizona holds a fair in honor of Veterans Day to commemorate those who have served or passed away during war. The festivities begin early in the day and include a princess from each town riding in an SUV, as well as singing, dancing, and horseback riders. Last year, I had the privilege of attending and I am looking forward to returning this month with my son. It is a wonderful sight to see so many vibrant young people at these community events.
5. Restaurant
Estela, New York
This is my top restaurant in New York. The chef, Ignacio Mattos, has several locations throughout the city, but Estela is exceptional. Mike D [from Beastie Boys] brought me there for a meal a couple years back when I was collaborating on some music with him and Cassius. The cuisine is phenomenal. I describe it as avant-garde rustic. The majority of dishes consist of only three or four ingredients. It’s wonderfully uncomplicated, flavorful, and surprising. The ambience is also very romantic. I highly suggest it for initial dates and amicable divorce settlements.
6. Film
Amsterdam, David O Russell
The film stars John David Washington, Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Robert De Niro, Zoe Saldana, and numerous others. It is highly entertaining and has impressive sets. The plot is remarkable and seems to have been created quickly to capture the current events in America. The story follows three World War I veterans who team up to stop a fascist scheme. Despite any negative reviews, it is a fantastic movie. And to top it off, Taylor Swift makes an appearance. Be sure to keep an eye out for her cameo.
