According to the Metropolitan police, two women sustained injuries from shotgun pellets when a suspect accidentally dropped their firearm during a police chase in Clapham.
Police pursued two individuals on a moped who refused to stop in Clapham, located in south London, at 4:55pm on Friday. The moped struck a 27-year-old pedestrian, and authorities stated that the moped later crashed shortly afterwards.
According to police, during a foot chase, one of the suspects accidentally dropped a shotgun which resulted in it firing. Two women, aged 27 and 36, who were in the area suffered injuries from the shotgun pellets. However, police clarified that the women were not intentionally harmed.
All three individuals who were hurt in the event have been released from the hospital.
Gemma Alger, a DCI from the specialist crime unit, stated that their investigation into finding the two individuals responsible is still in its initial phase. However, they are determined to pursue every lead in order to apprehend the suspects.

The individuals escaped on foot from the area. Police investigations are still being conducted at the St Alphonsus Road location as they search through the properties where the suspects ran away through gardens. The shotgun used in the incident was found at the scene and will undergo forensic examination.
I am seeking responses from individuals who have knowledge about the occurrence and those who have not yet contacted the police as potential witnesses. Our investigation will include reviewing CCTV recordings and I am also interested in any dashcam footage that could be helpful in the investigation.
Alger stated that officers will be present in the vicinity to offer support and assurance to the community.
The police have been chasing a moped and the Met’s directorate of professional standards has been made aware of the situation. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has also been notified, according to the force.
