Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed his desire to raise a significant amount of funds to aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts in Acapulco after the destructive Hurricane Otis in October. Tsitsipas is currently competing in the Mexican Open and has committed to donating $1,000 (£790) for every ace he serves throughout the tournament.
Over 50 individuals lost their lives as the strongest hurricane on record hit Acapulco on Mexico’s Pacific coast. Wind speeds of 165mph (270km/h) resulted in billions of dollars in damages, leaving many homes and livelihoods decimated. Tsitsipas expressed his desire to help and provide for those affected, stating that compassion is a fundamental value he believes in as a human being. He hopes to continue this act of benevolence in the future.
