Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have been chosen to create the soundtrack for the upcoming film about Amy Winehouse, titled “Back to Black.”

The movie is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, who started out as a visual artist before transitioning to directing films. She previously directed Nowhere Boy (written by Matt Greenhalgh, who also wrote Back to Black) and Fifty Shades of Grey, as well as A Million Little Pieces.

She stated that Nick and Warren were the sole musicians she had in mind to create the score for Back to Black. She had been listening to their compositions over the years and had always dreamed of working with them. Their sensitivity and understanding of the story resulted in a profoundly emotional and impactful film score.

Cave and Ellis have been working together for more than 30 years in the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. They also created another band called Grinderman and have composed music for several movies, such as The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Proposition, The Road, and most recently, Blonde, a biographical film about Marilyn Monroe starring Ana de Armas.

On 12 April, the UK saw the release of “Back to Black,” a film featuring Marisa Abela as Winehouse. The movie tells the story of her journey to becoming a worldwide sensation and her marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil (portrayed by Jack O’Connell), while also depicting her battle with addiction. Eddie Marsan, Juliet Cowan, and Lesley Manville take on roles as members of Winehouse’s family.
