Rafael Nadal’s participation in the Australian Open, one of the major tennis tournaments, is uncertain due to an injury to his hip. This same hip had previously undergone surgery that saved his career.

Unfortunately, the highly anticipated return of Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal at the Brisbane International came to an end with a tough three-and-a-half hour defeat against Australian player Jordan Thompson in the quarter-finals. Nadal’s performance was hindered by a leg injury during the Friday night match.

At the age of 37, he initially reached for his left thigh during the latter part of the second set. He then took a break for treatment when the match entered its fourth hour, at a score of 1-4 in the third set.

Nadal came back to complete the competition, his third in four days and second consecutive one after nearly a year of not participating.

The previous top-ranked player hopes that the injury is not serious and that he will be able to compete in the Australian Open, which starts on January 14th.

However, he acknowledged his apprehension due to the close location of the discomfort to his hip, which underwent surgery in June.

Nadal stated after the match that it is a place that is very similar to last year’s, but with some differences.

“I have noticed an increase in muscle, whereas last year I had mainly tendon.”

Last year’s experience was significantly different, as I noticed a drastic change right away.

“Today, I experienced no emotions. The only issue is that being in the same location makes me slightly more fearful than usual.”

I am hopeful that it is not something urgent and that I will have the opportunity to practice next week and participate in the Melbourne event. To be honest, I am unsure of anything at this point.

Nadal had three opportunities to win the second set, but Thompson took advantage of several uncommon mistakes and showcased his own exceptional tennis skills to secure a victory of 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 at a lively Pat Rafter Arena.

Rafael Nadal, a 22-time grand slam champion, showed his skill in Brisbane by defeating Dominic Thiem and Jason Kubler to make it to the quarter-finals.

After being forced off the ATP Tour due to an injury and exiting early at Melbourne Park last year, Nadal made a comeback at the tournament.

The renowned Spanish player stated that the recent problem was most likely due to exhaustion from playing consecutive matches. He also acknowledged the efforts of 29-year-old Thompson, who is on track to re-enter the top 50 rankings thanks to his performance in Brisbane.

Nadal stated that from this viewpoint, you are not aware of all the information that I possess.

“I’ve been performing exceptionally in my recent two matches, which is likely the only thing you’ve noticed. It’s definitely been a strong performance.”

Many changes can occur in a body, such as mine, after not playing tennis for a year.

“Hopefully, it’s just a highly energized muscle… if that’s the case, then everything is perfect.”

That is the reason why I have been speaking with great caution.

“If any issues arise, such as a problem in one area of my body or another, I must be willing to accept them.”
