Chelsea announced on Wednesday that they have secured the loan of Atlético Madrid and Portugal’s João Félix until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Felix expressed his enthusiasm for joining Chelsea and his dedication to helping the team achieve their goals in a statement released by the club. He stated that he is thrilled to be a part of such a renowned team and is eager to play at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old joined Atlético in 2019 for a transfer fee of $142 million (126 million euros), which was the fifth highest in football history at that time. He played in 131 games and scored 34 goals during his time with the La Liga team.
Félix has played for Portugal in 28 games and scored a goal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Félix comes to Stamford Bridge as the Blues are facing a rough patch under coach Graham Potter, currently holding 10th place in the Premier League.
