It appears that Miguel Almirón will remain with Newcastle for the foreseeable future as Al-Shabab, a team from the Saudi Pro League, was unable to finalize an agreement for the Paraguayan player.
Newcastle was considering selling Almirón for a price of £30m if the club in Riyadh was willing to meet their valuation. However, despite ongoing negotiations and an initial offer of £17m being turned down, it appears that Al-Shabab, who are on the verge of securing the signature of Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitić, were unable to come to an agreement.
Eddie Howe’s chances of making new signings this month depend on other players leaving the club, as Newcastle must adhere to the Premier League’s financial regulations. A bid from Bayern Munich for Kieran Trippier was turned down earlier this month, and Callum Wilson, who was also made available for transfer, has not received any offers yet.
Unfortunately, Almirón was unable to play in Saturday’s win against Fulham because he was sick. However, Howe announced on Monday that there is a possibility he could play in the match against Aston Villa on Tuesday. “We are hopeful that Miggy will be able to join us,” he stated.
Timothy Weah, an American forward playing for Juventus, has declined the opportunity to go on loan to Everton. Despite having appeared in 17 games in the Italian Serie A this season, the 23-year-old has decided against the move.
Sheffield United, along with other teams, have shown interest in acquiring Sékou Mara from Southampton. However, the Championship contenders for promotion are not willing to let the French player go until they have found a suitable replacement.
