Authorities are conducting a homicide inquiry following the discovery of a 56-year-old female victim with a deadly stab wound inside her car in the village of Pangbourne, located in Berkshire.
Police were alerted at approximately 5:45pm on Thursday to a car accident involving a Lexus on the A340. The female driver was given medical care, but unfortunately passed away at the location of the incident.
Approximately 30 minutes later, around 6:15pm, authorities from Thames Valley police and British Transport Police were summoned to a railway track near Pangbourne. A young man, 18 years old, was pronounced dead at the location. The Thames Valley police stated that the two deaths were connected.
The leader of the primary crime division, Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, described the investigation as “complicated” and stated that there are no other individuals being sought in relation to either of the deaths.
The names of the deceased have not been disclosed, but their next of kin have been notified.
According to Brown, we are in the initial phases of this intricate inquiry and at this time, we are not seeking anyone else in relation to either death.
“We are currently conducting an investigation and considering the possibility that the two deaths are connected. We are remaining open-minded about the circumstances surrounding each incident. There is no danger to the public beyond these unfortunate and tragic events.”

Following the initial disruption to the roads and railways at both locations, Brown stated that regular transportation services had resumed.
He stated that there will be a greater number of police officers present as they continue their investigation. He also encouraged anyone with worries to approach a visibly identifiable officer.
