Merseyside police have announced that a man was taken into custody for firing shots at three different places in Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The individual, who is 49 years old, was apprehended by officers trained in armed response in the area of Fazakerley following the use of a Taser.

The initial notification of gunshots came from a store, followed by additional occurrences outside a movie theater and at a neighboring location. Thankfully, no one sustained injuries in any of these events.

The man was apprehended for allegedly possessing a firearm and intending to harm others, as well as for robbery. He has been transported to a police station in Merseyside and is currently under arrest.

According to Jenn Wilson, the assistant chief constable, a 49-year-old man was apprehended after three incidents of gunshots were reported in the Croxteth and Norris Green neighborhoods last night.

Authorities were alerted to an incident at the News and Booze store, also referred to as Sangha newsagents, on Lower House Lane in Norris Green. According to reports, a male individual entered the store around 8pm, intimidated the store assistant, and demanded money. The individual then proceeded to discharge a firearm before fleeing the store without obtaining any cash.

The store employee did not sustain any injuries during the event, but was left in a highly distressed state.

Shortly before 8:50pm, authorities were notified of another incident involving gunshots outside the Showcase Cinema at the Stonedale retail park in Croxteth. According to reports, a man carrying a firearm had threatened two employees in the lobby and discharged several rounds into the air before fleeing in a vehicle.

Additional reports stated that shots were fired at a residence on Malpas Road around 10:20pm.

“The assistant chief constable stated that the shop assistant, staff at Showcase Cinema, filmgoers, and Malpas Road residents were undoubtedly greatly affected by these incidents, as shots were fired outside the cinema causing a lockdown in the complex.”

Police were present at the scene immediately after the initial incident and were able to quickly react to the following shots fired. A man was identified, found, and taken into custody within 13 hours on suspicion of being responsible for all three discharges. Officers will continue to regularly patrol the area to provide comfort and security for residents in the community.

The retail park at Stonedale and all surrounding shops will stay closed as officers conduct their investigations.
