A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody for the killing of a 51-year-old man in West Sussex.

A 16-year-old male was taken into custody for potential murder charges following the discovery of a deceased 51-year-old man on a street in Littlehampton, West Sussex.

According to Sussex police, there was a reported “incident” in the seaside town on Sunday at 6am. The victim, a resident of Littlehampton, was declared deceased at the location on Gladonian Road, according to the force.

The teenager is currently in police custody while specially trained officers are providing support to their next of kin, who have already been notified.

Authorities are asking for individuals who were present in the vicinity on Sunday morning to provide information.

The lead detective, Detective Sergeant Andy Wolstenholme, expressed: “We are aware that this is a distressing event for the tight-knit neighborhood of Littlehampton; I offer my sympathies to the victim’s loved ones and those impacted by this loss.”

We are putting in a lot of effort to gather information about the unfortunate occurrences that took place last night. We require the help of the community, particularly those who were in Gladonian Road between 12am and 6am, whether on foot or in a vehicle, to come forward and provide any relevant details.

He stated: “It would assist the investigation if there was no speculation about the incident in social media posts.”
