A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old in the city centre of Birmingham.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged by West Midlands police for the murder of a teenager who was stabbed in Birmingham city centre.

The individual is being charged with the killing of 17-year-old Muhammad Hassam Ali. Ali was discovered with severe injuries in Victoria Square, Birmingham at around 3:30pm on Saturday. He was transported to the hospital but unfortunately passed away later that day.

The young individual who is facing charges, and cannot be identified due to their age, will be present at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday, according to a statement from West Midlands Police.

Another 15-year-old boy has been released on police bail with certain conditions.

Michelle Thurgood, the DI, expressed her condolences to the loved ones of Muhammad. The boy responsible for Muhammad’s death has been charged, but investigations are ongoing.

“We are still interested in talking to anyone who was present in the vicinity around 3:30pm on Saturday. We urge anyone with relevant information to contact us.”
